10th GHTF Conference

Dear Sirs/Mesdames,

I hope that many of you agree that the 10th GHTF Conference scheduled for the end of this month is one of the most notable worldwide events, and there have been quite a few registrations until now. As GHTF Chair, I have been working to hold this Conference in collaboration with industry associations as well as the regulatory authorities of Japan.

However, the SARS outbreak in addition to the Iraq war has led us to reconsideration of our plans. Considering that the SARS outbreak has not ceased or been alleviated in Asia although there are no cases definitely diagnosed as SARS in Japan, I have decided to cancel all the meeting plans for the Conference: i.e., the workshops of the two regional groups scheduled for the evenings of 26 and 27 May, and the plenary session of 28 May.

I regret to inform you that there are no plans for holding the GHTF Conference later this year under the circumstances, and your kind understanding would be very much appreciated.
